FACING CHEETAHS
FACING CHEETAHS

DIRECTED by : Laurent FRAPAT
The cheetah, prince of the savannah, is without a doubt the most lovable of all the big cats. Known for his legendary speed, he is nonetheless vulnerable and in danger of extinction. In Namibia, one of the cheetah’s last havens, the lands where they live have been taken over by farmers. The cheetah has been deemed a nuisance.
Olivia Mokiejewski joins Marlice Van Vuuren and her husband Rudy at N/a’an ku sê, a center they created to give shelter to numerous wild orphans.
Upon her arrival, Olivia takes part in the rescue of two young cheetahs caught in traps on a farmer’s land. For the N/a’an ku sê team, this type of intervention has practically become routine: recuperate the felines so as to release them on a protected site far from breeding farms… Unfortunately, virgin territories vast enough for the cheetah’s survival have become extremely rare.
And what if humans and cheetahs could learn to live together again ?

TOTA, THE AMAZON MONKEY
TOTA, THE AMAZON MONKEY

DIRECTED by: Jean-Luc GUIDOIN
Deep in the Peruvian Amazon, one of nature’s last luxurious strongholds, Olivia Mokiejewski reveals the fragile destiny of the woolly monkey. Victims of pet trafficking and the disappearance of their habitat, the woolly monkey is one of the forest’s gardeners. His role is essential to the Amazon ecosystem’s balance.
Our journey begins at the Ikamaperu Orphanage which lies near the gateway to the Amazon. Before all else, Tota and Hector, two residents seized in Lima must be cared for. Hector suffers from diabetes and obesity. His owners stuffed him with cakes. Tota, for her part, has never lived in contact with her fellow creatures of the wild. She doesn’t know how to climb trees. Neither of them would survive in their natural habitat. For these very emotionally sensitive monkeys, it’s vital for them to live in a group, and take their distance from humans. Working side by side with Hélène Collongues, Olivia will join the essential work of resocializing these animals so that one day they can again join their own, high up, very high up in the forest’s canopy…

THE GIANTS OF TSAVO
THE GIANTS OF TSAVO

DIRECTED by : David PERRIER
Tsavo, located in Kenya, is the kingdom of giants, a paradise where elephants are protected. This national park is home to the largest population of elephants in the country, yet new dangers threaten them. Illegal poaching is again thriving.
Olivia Mokiejewski joins the team of medical aides at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and KWS (Kenya Wildlife Service) rangers. Their mission: to protect the wild herds against poachers while reintroducing orphan elephants back into the wild.
In the heart of the savannah, Olivia Mokiejewski participates in the rescue of Kitirua a one-and-a-half year old elephant cub. To save her, she must be quickly airlifted to the orphanage and treated directly upon arrival. Without the affection and the 24/7 presence of these devoted aides, Kiturua could let herself die.
A deeply-moving adventure that helps us grasp the stakes and the urgency of saving Africa’s last elephants.

THE BEAR CUBS OF BOUBONITSY
THE BEAR CUBS OF BOUBONITSY

DIRECTED by: David PERRIER

In the heart of the frozen taiga, surrounded by snow and ice, the brown bear hibernates. Some hunters take advantage of this slumbering state to perpetuate an ancestral and barbaric practice: den-hunting.

Olivia Mokiejewski joins Valentin Pajetnov at the orphanage he created 400 kilometers north of Moscow to take part in rescuing litters of bear cubs whose mothers were slaughtered. Without care, their deaths are imminent. Taking in baby orphans is always a challenge, giving them back their freedom is another. But for Valentin and Olivia, it’s definitely worth the effort.

For more than six months, they brave landscapes petrified by the cold which later transforms into the spectacular forests of Northern Russia.
