OUR MOVIES : THE SECRET LIFE OF SPRINGS |

Florida, the sources of crystal
DIRECTED BY : Jean-Luc GUIDOIN In Florida, a thousand-plus springs have given birth to a constellation of canals, rivers and marshes. An incomparable hydric network that fosters the well-being of numerous species. Such as the emblematic manatee, a peaceful marine mammal, for who these waters are the perfect habitat.
Yet what makes these springs unique isn’t what they show us, but what they hide.
Exploring the depths of this underground aquatic empire is a dangerous but important adventure because understanding its workings will help to better protect it. |

Palawan, the hidden river
DIRECTED BY : Alexis BARBIER-BOUVET On Palawan Island in the Philippines hides a virtually unexplored natural wonder: the Puerto Princesa river, the longest navigable underground river in the world.
Born in the heart of the primary forest, it dives beneath the earth’s surface and traverses almost 35 kilometers. In its wakes, it shapes geological masterpieces in the gigantic caverns, grottos and lakes that reflect colossal stalactites.
And yet in this light-deprived universe, some very strange creatures have taken up residence… |

Etosha, the land of dry water
DIRECTED BY : Frédéric FEBVRE Welcome to a world of contrasts and paradoxes! Etosha has been called “the land of dry water”. At first glance, no rivers or streams seem to cross the great Namibian plains.
And yet groups of zebras and gazelles, ostriches and big cats manage to survive on this burning mantle of salt and dust. This incredible diversity of life is proof that water is present here. But in a region where rainfall is practically non-existent, how can water rise up from the subsoil? These watering holes are merely the visible part of an incredible subterranean hydrologic network the magnitude of which we have only begun to measure.
For several years, researchers have ventured in the depths of this aquafer to reveal its secrets…
